Butterick 6563 blouse

I was looking for a blouse pattern to fill a wardrobe gap and stumbled upon the Butterick 6563 top. I like the vintage vibe and there are quite a few cute makes under the hashtag on Instagram so I purchased it.
It looks like a collared shirt but the construction was a lot simpler, which is always a bonus when you’re looking for a quick project. The pattern comes with 3 options, and I made the view C with a round collar, puff sleeves and a (decorative) front pocket.
I had this beautiful slinky viscose in electric blue from Drapers Fabrics in my stash and I think it’s perfect for this pattern. It turned out nicely! But I mean, how can a Frida print shirt go wrong?
The top comes together rather quickly! I made a size 6 and didn’t make any adjustments. Next time, if I’m being super picky, I would make a narrow shoulder adjustment but other than that, it’s perfect as is. The necktie that you see in the envelope is just a strap that you wear like a tie. I made it but couldn’t work out how to tie a bow as pretty as the picture, so I didn’t keep it 😆.
I love that it’s so versatile I can wear it tucked in, under a pinafore, or tied at the waist. In these photos, I wore it with the Megan Nielsen Tania Culottes and Elbe Textiles Steele Pinafore. I can see this becoming my go-to blouse pattern!
Ooh that’s so cute! I love the fabric too! Also, now you have me thinking about making more culottes, that olive color seems like it would be so versatile…
Thanks Lia 🙂 And culottes are very practical!
